A: You can request a free concrete estimate by calling
Crockett & Sons Concrete, Inc. or filling out the contact form on our website. We serve homeowners and businesses throughout Harford County MD, Cecil County MD, and Chester County PA, and will schedule a site visit to evaluate your project and provide an accurate quote.

Q: Do you offer residential and commercial concrete services?
A: Yes! We provide both
residential and commercial concrete services, including driveways, patios, sidewalks, foundations, slabs, and parking lots for clients across Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Project & Installation

Q: How long does a typical concrete project take?
A: Most
concrete projects like patios or driveways take 1–3 days to complete, while larger jobs such as foundations or commercial work may take a week or more. Weather conditions and site access can impact timelines.

Q: How soon can I walk or drive on new concrete?
A: You can typically walk on new concrete within
24–48 hours. For vehicles, we recommend waiting at least 7 days, with full curing taking about 28 days for maximum strength.

Q: Do you offer stamped or decorative concrete?
A: Yes! We specialize in
stamped and decorative concrete, including stamped patios, colored concrete, and exposed aggregate finishes to enhance curb appeal and property value.

Q: What should I do to prepare for my concrete project?
A: If permits are required in your area, they should be obtained before work begins. We can handle the permitting process for you if needed. We also recommend clearing the work area and ensuring access for equipment.

Pricing & Payment

Q: How is the cost of a concrete project determined?
A: Concrete pricing depends on factors such as
square footage, thickness, site conditions, demolition, reinforcement, and decorative finishes. We provide detailed, transparent estimates before starting any work.

Q: Do you require a deposit?
A: Yes. Our standard payment schedule is
1/3 deposit, 1/3 at project start, and 1/3 upon completion. Full details are outlined in your contract.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: We accept
cash, check, and major credit cards. (Please note: a small processing fee may apply to card payments.)

Maintenance & Durability

Q: How do I maintain my concrete to ensure longevity?
A: To extend the life of your concrete, we recommend
sealing every 3–4 years, keeping the surface clean, and avoiding harsh deicing salts during winter months.

Q: What causes cracks in concrete, and can they be prevented?
A: Concrete can naturally crack due to
shrinkage, temperature changes, and ground movement. At Crockett & Sons, we minimize cracking using proper sub-base preparation, control joints, rebar reinforcement, and fiber mesh. If cracks occur due to installation, we cover repairs within our warranty period.

Warranty & Credentials

Q: Do you offer a warranty on your concrete work?
A: Yes! We stand behind our work and offer a
12-month workmanship warranty covering installation-related issues such as cracking or surface defects.

Q: Are you licensed and insured?
A: Absolutely. We are fully licensed and insured. We are fully insured and carry
general liability coverage, workers compensation, and personal property Insurance to protect both our customers and our crew. However we always take every precaution to prevent any damage that working with heavy equipment and concrete may cause.  Any concerns will be discussed prior to starting your project so expectations are clear. Here are the required licenses to work in Maryland and Pennsylvania as a Home Improvement Contractor:

  • Maryland MHIC License: 71648
  • Pennsylvania License: PA107522

Q: How much does a concrete patio cost?
A: A standard
concrete patio typically ranges from $9–$15 per square foot for a broom finish. Stamped concrete patios usually range from $18–$27 per square foot, depending on design, color, and site conditions.

Q: How much does a concrete driveway cost?
A: A new
concrete driveway typically ranges from $9–$17 per square foot for a standard finish. Final pricing depends on factors like excavation, thickness, reinforcement, slope, and accessibility.

Q: Do I need a permit for a concrete patio or driveway?
A: Permit requirements vary by location. In many areas of Harford County MD, Cecil County MD, and Chester County PA, permits may be required depending on size, grading, or drainage changes. We can help guide you through the process or obtain permits on your behalf if needed.  In general most private sidewalks
will not require permit.  Most patios will require a permit unless under 200 square feet.  Driveway replacements and parking pads will not require a permit but the Apron/Right of Way concrete will require a permit.  Garages, pool decks, footings, shed pads, etc. will all need a permit.  We will contact the local city or county to confirm proper requirements before any work is started

Q: What PSI concrete do you use?
A: We use 4000 PSI concrete, which is stronger and more durable than standard mixes. This ensures long-lasting performance for driveways, patios, and slabs in Maryland and Pennsylvania’s freeze-thaw conditions.

Q: Do you use rebar or wire mesh in your concrete?
A: Yes, we use rebar reinforcement (typically spaced 24" on center) along with FiberMesh to strengthen the concrete and reduce cracking over time.

Q: What kind of base do you install under concrete?
A: We install a properly compacted stone base (typically 3–4 inches) beneath all concrete projects. A strong base is critical to prevent settling, cracking, and long-term failure.

Q: Do you remove old concrete before installing new?
A: Yes, we offer concrete demolition and replacement services, including removal, hauling, and proper base preparation before installing new concrete.

Q: Can concrete be poured in cold or hot weather?
A: Yes, but temperature plays a big role. We follow proper procedures as outlined by the ACI for hot and cold weather concrete installation to ensure proper curing and long-term durability.

Q: Should concrete be sealed?
A: Yes, sealing helps protect concrete from moisture, stains, and surface wear. We recommend sealing decorative and standard concrete every few years for best results.
